Dermatology Associates performs several skin allergy tests. We test for allergic contact dermatitis, sunscreens and nickel.  Allergy testing is important if you have had a reaction several times to a certain substance. A consultation with one of our providers will help you determine if an allergy test is right for you and what to expect.

  • Allergy Test

We use T.R.U.E Test which is a reliable Allergan patch skin test designed to help your provider determine if you are allergic to any of the substances included on the test panel. The test panel contains 36 different substances or mixes, all of which are well-known causes of contact dermatitis and a negative control. Once your patch test has been applied you will be asked to return to our office within 48 hours for your 1st read and then again 96 hours for the final read.

Are there activities I should avoid while the T.R.U.E Test is on my back? Just a few, when you are bathing or showering you must be careful not to get the test panel or surrounding area wet. If the panel gets wet, it may loosen, allowing the test substances to redistribute or cause the ink marking on your back to run. For this reason, any activity that may cause you to sweat or cause the panel to loosen should be avoided.
